More than a furnished house

A house provides shelter. A home creates belonging.

A house can have four walls, a roof and new paint. A home is created by the people who make it feel safe, welcoming and loved.

The renovation has prepared the space. The next step is filling it with the furniture, household essentials and thoughtful details young people need for everyday life: a comfortable bed at the end of the day, a table where meals can be shared, a living room where they can gather and a kitchen where they can build skills and confidence.

Every room can say: You are safe. You are valued. You belong.

Why home matters

Everyday spaces can communicate something powerful.

A comfortable bedroom, a shared meal and a place to gather can tell a young person: You are valued, and you belong here.

Cottage 4 will provide a stable setting where children and youth can practice daily living skills, build confidence and move toward greater independence with caring support around them.

Mission in action: One room at a time, our community can help create comfort, dignity, belonging and hope.

How Help Us Make It Home works

Do I have to sponsor an entire room?

No. You may sponsor a room, give any amount toward a room or purchase a needed item from the wish list.

Can I donate furniture or household items?

Possibly, but every in-kind gift must be approved first. Contact Sunnybrook before purchasing, transporting or delivering any item.

Sunnybrook will recognize financial gifts, purchased wish-list items and approved in-kind contributions by reporting household needs fulfilled, items received and rooms completed.
