With July 4th celebrations behind us, the campus of Sunnybrook is buzzing with excitement. The teens are eagerly anticipating the return to school in the fall. This time of year brings a renewed sense of hope, healing, and the promise of independence for the foster youth who reside in our transitional homes.
As they prepare for their journey to adulthood, we reflect on their inspiring transformations and the collective freedom they are on the brink of achieving.
The Journey of Transformation
At Sunnybrook, each adolescent's journey mirrors the metamorphosis of a monarch butterfly. From potential and promise to growth and preparation, followed by hidden transformation and finally, emergence into independence, our youth undergo remarkable changes.
- Potential and Promise: Like the monarch's egg, our teens arrive at Sunnybrook full of potential. Despite their past challenges, they embody the promise of a bright future.
- Growth and Preparation: Throughout their time here, these young individuals, akin to caterpillars, work diligently to gain the skills and knowledge needed for adulthood. They absorb valuable life lessons and experiences, preparing for their next stage.
- Hidden Transformation: The transition phase, much like the monarch's chrysalis stage, involves significant internal change. While not always visible, these young people are overcoming personal struggles and developing resilience.
- Emergence and Independence: As they approach adulthood, our teens are ready to spread their wings. They are on the cusp of achieving independence, ready to contribute to society and break free from the generational cycles of dependency.
