PRESS RELEASE
Senator Roger Wicker will celebrate Ric and Kim Jordan as a 2025 Angels in Adoption® Honoree for their outstanding advocacy for foster children across Mississippi. The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI), which coordinates the Angels in Adoption® Program, will honor the Jordans on September 10th at their annual Angels in Adoption® Celebration.
The Jordans are being honored for their commitment to the foster care community in Mississippi. Ric and Kim are teachers who moved to Mississippi from Alabama after hearing about the critical need for foster parents in this state. They have been licensed since 2017 and have had over 30 children placed in their home. When opportunity struck again, the Jordans moved from their coastal community to Sunnybrook Children’s Home so they could foster larger sibling groups, advocate for children in care, and better support the foster community. Throughout their eight years as foster parents, they have primarily opened their home to teenagers and sibling groups. They live in Ridgeland and have four children, three biological and one adopted. Ric teaches Art and English and Kim teaches gifted. In addition to her day job, Kim leads foster parent training and has been doing so since 2018. In 2024 alone, she gave fifteen hundred training hours to foster parents from across the state.
The Angels in Adoption® Program is CCAl’s signature public awareness event and provides an annual opportunity for all members of the U.S. Congress to learn of and recognize the great work of their constituents who have enriched the lives of children and families in the United States and abroad. This year, more than 65 Angels from 45 states are being honored through the 27th Annual Angels in Adoption® Program. Read the full list of honorees here.
“For over 25 years, CCAI has proudly partnered with the Adoption Caucus to present the annual Angels in Adoption® Program, celebrating the remarkable dedication and impact of our Angel honorees who work tirelessly toward a world where every child experiences the love and security of a permanent family,” said CCAl’s Executive Director, Kate McLean. “Our Angels are a powerful mix of voices and experiences – from former foster youth to adoptive parents, from judges to community leaders – all united by their commitment to family permanency. Each year, CCAI is proud to elevate their work and honor their impact.”
CCAI is a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan organization dedicated to raising awareness about children and youth in the United States and around the world in need of permanent, safe, and nurturing families. Founded in 2001 by the co-chairs of the bicameral, bipartisan adoption caucus – the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, one of Congress’ premier caucuses – CCAI works with the caucus to eliminate policy barriers that hinder children from realizing their basic right of a family and more effectively raise congressional and public awareness on permanency as it related to adoption, foster care, and child welfare.
CCAI does not receive any government funding and relies on the generous support of foundations, corporations, and individuals to accomplish this mission. The work of CCAI including the Angels in Adoption® Program would not be possible without our core partners: American Council of Life Insurers, Annie E. Casey Foundation, Apollo Global Management, Arnold & Porter, Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, Constellation Energy, Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, Duke Energy, Retail Orphan Initiative, and Susan K. Neely.
